Architectural Type
Brief
To design a bespoke typeface based on an iconic piece of architecture.
The font should directly be linked to the building.
Concept and Solution
I chose to create a bespoke typeface based on the ‘Art Science Museum’ located within Singapore. This piece of architecture was eye-catching with its unique and special qualities.
I created an editorial design celebrating my typeface, showing the process behind it and each step that was taken in creating each element of the type. Using a sketch of the exterior, I used elements from its structure to form each individual letter and numeral.

The overall structure of my typeface was based around the exterior structure of the museum. When choosing a colour palette, I wanted to celebrate the inside elements which makes the Art Science museum so special. I chose a two tone gradient that reflected both ‘Art’ and ‘Science’ sections coming together and the bright, colourful exhibitions held within the museum itself.
